Respite Run - Day 1

2 Mirtul, 1373
After making arrangements with a caravan I arrived in Respite Run. I met Oolathana at the House of Tyr’s Hand. We prayed and I had a spontaneous arcane convergence. Magical lights appeared and it was because of me. I met Kelestri and Bromar two blacksmiths. They fitted the ceremonial armor for the service. The armor wasn’t ceremonial it was incredibly strong and beautiful and even magical. I met Marina and Aliona, Unther’s wife and daughter. I also met Aragon, Leaf, Slyl, and Corim. They all seem to be from radically different families.

  • Kelestri is a very strong willed human woman. She knows a lot about working metal. She isn’t shy about giving her opinion.
  • Aragon is a Human Cleric but hasn’t said much about his beliefs.
  • Leaf is a Half-Elf Bard he is very friendly, but not very serious. He does seem to have a good heart.
  • Slyl is a very hard to read. He doesn’t talk at all and there is something strange about him.
  • Corim is friendly enough. He seems to have an affinity for sneaking around I am unsure of his race. I think he might have affiliation with some kind of rouge, but it is not polite to ask about such things.

After meeting each other we headed to the Three Torches, the best inn in Respite Run, for lunch and discussion. We found rooms and talked about handling various duties for Unther’s funeral service. Then a delivery came for Marina. The person tried to change the terms of their arrangement and collect more coin than agreed on. Corim convinced him it was a bad idea. I noticed a “Z” etched into the crate he brought, the sign of the Zentarium. They are a seedy merchant guild. I am surprised that Marina would buy from them, but it is impolite to pry. An hour later a group of rough looking “adventures” showed up and started to demand free food and drink. Once again Corim stepped in. He cast a spell that made the room go completely dark and we chased them off. Then a group of shady characters, Cloaks and Swords of Mulminster, stopped by the three torches and asked where was Unther being laid out. I pointed them to The House of Tyr’s Hand. Hours later we discovered that someone forced their way into The House of Tyr’s Hand. They killed Justice and Valor the temple dogs and killed Guardi. They even broke the jaw of Unther’s corpse. We set things right and decided to stay on watch to keep things safe.

Back in Respite Run

1 Mirtul, 1373 - HOLY DAY
I was finally home after spending over a year at the House of Tyr’s Hand, the temple of Tyr in Respite Run. I was shocked to receive a letter from Oolathana, my mentor. She requested my presence at the House of Tyr’s Hand. Tragically Unther Ravenhealm has passed on. He was a good benefactor to the House of Tyr’s Hand and tradition demands that he receive an honor guard. I have my first official charge. It is good to be able to pray among my peers. My family honors Tyr, but it not the same as in the temple. I feel closer to Tyr here.

Animosus: Special Memories

After my second year at the temple I was allowed to return home for a break. After returning home to a warm welcome I started to help out with various tasks with our home and business. MIRNA as usual was giving me a hard time. I decided to cast detect evil on her and said, “that’s strange, I thought for sure you were evil.” MIRNA was not at all amused. She did ease up on me for a while. Years ago my father GLAR was doing some business with a merchant from far away lands. After a couple of days it became obvious that they were unscrupulous. He canceled negotiations with them even though he needed to sell off his inventory desperately. I asked him why he would give up a chance to make some needed profit and get rid of some extra inventory. He said, “The profit you make today may be less than the price you pay later.” I never forgot this lesson. It turned out that they were arrested months latter for various crimes and the merchants who dealt with them lost their inventory or were even charged with crimes. My brother PAVLE was in a fight and almost lost his life. There was a group of thugs that were extorting various merchants. They were promising to burn down stores and kill merchants who would not pay them off. PAVLE’s friend Hermies owned a business that was targeted. Hermies could not pay them off because business was slow. PAVLE helped guard the store and was there the night the thugs tried to burn it down. PAVLE killed one of them in a very serious fight. The rest backed off, but later caught up with him and back stabbed him. He healed up and because of his courage he was able to identify his attackers and prove the person he killed was worthy of such treatment. From this I learned many things. Those who trade off safety for security deserve neither. This applies to the other merchants who just paid off the thugs. Those who kill in the name of justice will be righteous. This applies to my brother PAVLE who was awarded for his bravery.

Animosus Constans "The Harbinger of Justice"

I can trace my lineage back six generations to Damara royalty. My grand father, BOR CONSTANS, was in the 12 years war in the year of the bright blade (1347DR). At the battle of the Ford of Goliad King Virdin Blood-Feathers army fell to the Witch-King of Vaasa, King Zhengyi, a lich. MIRNA CONSTANS my grandmother was a desperate widow. The undead armies, Orcs, and goblins overran their lands. She was forced to flee. Because of her hurry to find safety much of the wealth they had acquired was lost. The children were safe and secure, but in southern Vaasa without any holdings or favor with the new King Dragonsbane. Although King Dragonsbane is very popular and very honest he refused to recognize the title and holdings of my family. It seems he felt that the kingdom was lost under Blood-Feathers and was won by Dragonsbane and he owed a lot to the knights that served him in war. My grandmother was welcomed by friends, but still had no lands each of her children had to find a new home. This lead my family to a move to The Vast. I am the 5th born of 8 children, 3 girls and 5 boys. The Family is very involved in trade as a merchant house. This started with the NEBOJSA family. They have traded as far away as Waterdeep. The family never sells to the public they only transport and trade with other merchants. The NEBOJSA family has some cargo ships when my parents married the business trade opened up from the merger. This led to some speculation that it was a marriage of convenience. As I personally know, my parents truly love each other and all of their children. My older brothers PAVLE and DUŠAN as well as my older sister MIRNA are being groomed to take over the business. This occupies a fair amount of their time. They also spend time being tutored in math, geography, and various languages. PAVLE is shorter than me and has darker hair, but we look like brothers. He has a lot of patience and is very serious. He usually gets a joke but rarely laughs at it. DUŠAN is a little taller than me, but thinner. His hair is curly, but the same color as mine. DUŠAN is the most fun of anyone I know. He can tell stories for hours and knows all the best jokes. He loves to play games with the rest of the family and even the neighbor children. He isn’t as serious about his studies and yet gets by well. DUŠAN is very good with a sword and taught me the basics when I was young. As we grew up we were inseparable. MIRNA looks a lot like my mother, but that’s about where the similarity ends. I don’t think she evil, but she has a mean streak I cannot comprehend. She will hold on to the littlest insult or taunt and give a payback that is ten fold. She usually does it when you least expect it. She also never gets caught doing it, so father thinks she’s and angel. I remember her hiding my boots and letting me look for them for half the day. This made me late to meet my father, and when I told him why I was late he said that MIRNA would never do such a thing. He said I should apologize to her for saying things like that behind her back. Later on he made me apologize to her and of coarse she forgave me.My father is GLAR CONSTANS he is thin and with age getting gray. He is my height, but getting a belly. I think he loves his ale too much, although I almost never see him get drunk. He is always encouraging all of us kids. He runs the family trade business “Vast Trade” and is introducing all of his business acquaintances to PAVLE, DUŠAN, and MIRNA. I hope he finds MIRNA a suitor far away from home, but I hope he is nice to her. I here the sword coast is nice this time of year. My mother VECA, her maiden name was NEBOJSA, is very small. I think I’m almost a foot taller than her, yet no one would dare talk back to her. She has very light brown hair, and isn’t getting nearly as gray as my father. She keeps the house these days and weaves some nice lace that she likes to give as gifts to friends and family. None of us boys want anything to do with it, but I still have a handkerchief she made me. Not that that’s common knowledge.I am fortunate because I did not have the same obligations as the rest of my family. Instead I went to the temple of Tyr to study the true path. My neophyte year was very special. I met my mentor Lady Oolathana a middle-aged woman with short brown hair and brown eyes. She always smells of lilac and wears the robes of Tyr. She once said to me that I have an unusual quality to my soul and my gifts were strong. I figured this was told to everyone to encourage him or her. After some inquires I found out this was not the case. I made friends with Caisaadi Tigersoul a beautiful cleric in training. She has red hair and green eyes and seems exotic to me. She has a quiet voice and is wise beyond her years. I admire here dedication to her studies. We spent some time together studying and we helped each other through the various trials. She has trouble remembering the “enemies of truth”. It has become a running joke to ask her to list them and see her squirm. I also became great friends with Xavendithas Songsteel a hardy defender of faith. He is taller than me and has blond hair and blue eyes. He has a funny accent that I mentioned when we first met. He pointed out that there a many different accents for this area and mine was more unusual than his. I wasn’t sure how to take the comment, but than he just hit me on the shoulder and I realized he was kidding, a little. He is a very dedicated cleric and yet knows how to have a good time. He talked me into using the bastard sword as my preferred weapon. I also became a little better than him with it. It is something he likes to down play. He promises to keep in touch after we start missions, but he is headed north. I hope we cross paths again. In The Vast Tyr is not as prominent as some of the other deities, but that will change. I want to make sure it does.In my spare time I have guarded some caravans for my family. I have sailed to several ports and traveled over the West Mountains as well. My sister MIRNA is a slave driver. I can’t wait until she gets married. She is not nice to me. On the other hand my brother DUŠAN is my best friend. I cannot imagine not being there for him.
