Kirth, My Destiny

6 Mirtul, 1373
I begin a new day with strength and optimism. There is much work ahead of us. Haelimbrar and I talk of the plans to heal Kirth. The guard is uncertain and concerned as are the people of Kirth. I ask Haelimbrar if we can look for quick wins over each problem. We will be under much scrutiny and success should come fast. First we weed out the Bane loyalists within the guard. We establish order and security. Then we repair the walls and buildings. I tell Haelimbrar we should be ready to have a celebration with the people soon and this will be final binding of the wounds for Kirth, my home.

A Change of Direction

5 Mirtul, 1373
I am so glad that all of us have stopped the scourge of Bane in Kirth for now. Each one of us made a real difference yesterday. I am proud to be your partner in the Company of Light and Darkness. I hope we will have many more actions to be proud of in the coming days. We have been through much and will probably endure much more. I want us to renew our pledge to work as a fellowship. I have dealt with anger, confusion, despair, distrust, leadership and uncertainty. I may have not handled them as well as you or I have hoped. I have however handled it. I may have made some wrong decisions. To me, being a leader is not only about making the right decisions; it’s about making the best decisions possible and dealing with the consequences of them. Some of you have had differences with what I believe or how I choose to lead. That is your right. What I require is forgiveness for any trespasses you feel I have made and a pledge from each and every one of you to work as one at least until the Vast is safe from the followers of Bane. If that is possible than we will walk a path together as one fellowship one company of Light and Darkness. Now we can work out the details my friends or I have other options. Haelimbrar has made me a very attractive offer. Let us talk openly and honestly.

The charter lies on the table as we talk. Without hesitation Kelestri prepares to sign. Pavel only asks “I am a simple farmer. What does the charter mean?” With the answers that follow he then decides to sign. Slyl shows his concern for the group, in my option it feels like the first time, and says he will burden them with the problems he has with his past. I say perhaps that a burden is best shared. Evan and Corim have few reservations and sign the form. Leaf asks if he can do better by staying in Kirth. The idea is discussed and leaf decides to sign as well. Saying, “The tale of our deeds must be told, but our deeds are not done.” The contract makes its way to Animosus. “I have a chorus singing the praises of staying in Kirth and a quartet who would like my sword to help out”. I have an offer to stay here and have hundreds of loyal solders that want to follow my orders without question and extol my virtues, or I have you guys. My family is here with me safe and sound, I can build a temple to Tyr, I can research the history of the Baneite legends to help stop them, and I can train with Haelimbrar to become the force for good I always wanted to be. You do not need or want my leadership, that burden is spread amongst all of you somehow. Everyone makes some counter points to the arguments. The one thing that would change my mind was never spoken. No one says that they need my guidance and leadership. Pavel says that my destiny chooses me rather than me choosing my destiny. Kirth seems to have chosen me, I think. “When one walks down a path with friends and comes to a branch in the road he may choose to take that branch. In doing so he does not turn his back on them he just changes direction. I will not look back (as I will probably see Slyl smile), but I will remember all that I shared with you.” The Company of Light and Darkness is on its own. I will keep the spirit of our fellowship with me in Kirth. I wish you all well.
