Haelimbrar and I are able to speak candidly. He has shared his hopes and dreams, his fears and intrepidations, and sides of himself that are unexpected. His mentorship is my anchor. It pains me to tell him I need to adventure again. I have done all I can for Kirth. I have proven to myself I can lead an army and handle the mantle of power. I can negotiate with the foulest people Kirth has to offer without giving in to my desire to wipe them out. Haelimbrar somehow knew this day would come soon. He offers me the best companion an adventuring man could ask for, Tothlaeren the black warhorse of kings. He has served Haelimbrar for several years and it appears he will continue his adventures with me.

This week will be a tribute to my devotion to the triad and I will share it with my friend Pavel. He is the only one who has stayed with the company who can truly understand my faith. The best artist in Kirth using the best materials is creating a holy symbol worthy of the faithful for me. It will take a 10-day and the pain is in honor of Ilmater. Especially since the needles get dull fast. I am sharing a transcendent experience that can only bring me closer to my faith and Pavel. He is like a family member to me.

What a Bastard

Kelestri has offered to enhance my Lance using her skills with the forge. It was a prize claimed from the defeat of the Baneites in Manyoak. Kelestri has always had good intentions even if I don’t agree with them. This is a good example. She took my lance and made me a bastard sword. I was shocked and confused. Using a weapon takes time to learn and years to perfect and now she expects me to start over again. It’s like a cruel joke. It’s the most beautiful sword of it type I have seen. I trained with the lance and great sword for years and now I get to train with another sword. I will need some time to adjust.

Leaf's cheating heart

Leaf is now accused of many crimes. This tears at me. Leaf is like a flighty brother to me. I will need to hold fast to the law. That does not mean Leaf will not get the best defense.

Leaf has confessed, so much for his innocence. At least Haelimbrar is giving him a change to pay for his crimes. He will not spend time in jail, but will be known as the orphan singer for a few days.

Slyl is gracious

Slyl is a man of unusual background and somewhat unscrupulous. Since my new found faith has taught me to balance law, duty, and sacrifice it has taught me to see things in a broader picture. To that end I have asked for Slyl to understand and forgive my harsh judgment of him. I realize that the standards that I hold myself to are not attainable for many others and it is wrong to judge them. Slyl is not deserving of my distain and while he is not what I consider good. He is by far not evil. He proved this to me when he was gracious in accepting my apology. We are starting anew.

The Company Returns

Captain Crowne informs me my friends have returned to Kirth. Seeing them reminds me of the sacrifice I made to help the people of Kirth. The time to celebrate and rekindle our relationships is near. Mithinu excuses herself and says she is going to see Illisyr. Kelestri is somehow different. She has an even stronger burning in her eyes and seems to be filled with an extra sense of purpose. Leaf’s novel was a great read and I intend to tell him and have him personalize a copy for me. I hope to have time to talk to Pavel , Evan, and Slyl. I am sad to see Corim leave, but his path lies somewhere else. I ask several of my most trusted men to deliver the blood metal weapons, per Kelestri’s request, to Respite Run.

My well-trained watch detains a Shar Priestess named Encara. She is accused of participating in a conspiracy against the Great Ilmateri Council. I am fortunate in that leaf can find out what she knows. The celebration will have to wait because we discover how the plot to murder the Great Ilmateri Council will take shape. In a style reminiscent of our last crusade we gather up all of the sashes that would destroy the Great Ilmateri Council. To my pleasant shock Pavel is now on the Great Ilmateri Council. The Company is true and faithful.
Haelimbrar and I discuss the finer point of Kirthian law. And decide to arrest the source of this conspiracy. Evan must lead the way. That way I am only following up on a disturbance and helping a member of the citizenry.
